Dr. Bai Yu Liu

After completing a five-year Bachelor of TCM at Hubei University of Chinese Medicine, Dr. Bai Yu Liu practiced TCM at the Wang Jing Hospital and Research Institute of Orthopedics and Traumatology in Beijing from 1992 to 1999. During that period, he also completed a Master of TCM (Orthopedics and Traumatology) at the China Academy of TCM.

Soon after immigrating to Sydney with his family, Dr. Liu opened a private TCM clinic in Sydney where he has practiced for over two decades. Since 2008, he has also served as an SITCM Clinical Supervisor. His expertise in Chinese herbal medicine has amassed many loyal followers among SITCM’s students and patients.

In Dr. Liu’s words, TCM revolves around four key elements: cause, mechanism, symptom and treatment. Signs and symptoms indicate the balance between good and evil forces within the body. Only through a meticulous exploration of the cause can clear treatment rules and methods be formulated. Achieving clarity in diagnosis requires wisdom. To attain such wisdom, one must not only study and repeatedly apply classical texts but also delve into a wealth of ancient medical records. This serves as a shortcut to understanding the traditional thinking inherent in TCM.
