Support for Medical or Disability Reasons

We offer support to help you achieve your academic goals and minimise the impact that a medical condition or disability can have on your learning experience at SITCM.

Types of services and adjustments might include:

  • Access to special equipment during assessments
  • Assessment and exam adjustments e.g. an allocation of extra time, sitting the exam in an individual room
  • Alternative formatting
  • Individual additional tutoring
  • Mentoring
  • Monitoring of progress
  • Support person

To receive support for medical or disability reasons, contact our Administration Office (administration@sitcm.edu.au) or Academic Support Officer (academic.support@sitcm.edu.au). You will be asked to first have your health professional complete a Health Practitioner Report and provide supporting documentation. A support meeting will then be arranged with the Academic Support Officer to explore what options may be available to assist you.

Support for At-Risk Students

Students must meet the following minimum academic standards in each semester of study:

  • Not fail a particular unit of study more than once.
  • Not fail 50% or more of the units attempted in any semester.

If a student is identified as at risk of not meeting these standards, or as not meeting these standards, they are regarded as “at risk” and will receive an email from the Academic Support Officer to set up a meeting where support options can be discussed.

It is important that students engage with this academic support process. A student who fails to meet the minimum academic standards in two consecutive semesters will receive a letter from the Dean advising of SITCM’s intention to cancel the student’s enrolment in the degree.
