Description | This unit introduces students to human anatomy and provides the requisite knowledge and understanding of the nature and functions of the human body as an essential component for the clinical application of TCM. Students study 11 core systems of the human body including skeletal, muscular, integumentary, digestive, cardiovascular, endocrine, respiratory, urinary, reproductive, lymphatic and nervous systems. Anatomical naming conventions, forms and locations of the body’s main structures and physiological functions are addressed. Knowledge of these systems prepares students for their understanding of the regional and surface anatomy (including underlying structures) required to precisely identify acupuncture points which are introduced in greater detail in the study of HMS105 Human Anatomy 2 later in the course. |
